I do wonder if alternate reality games and the acronym ARG is slowly being replaced by transmedia storytelling, and if eventually they'll be "transmedia games." The term "pervasive games" never really stuck, but I think the confusion and overlap between alternate reality and augmented reality is a real barrier in some cases.

Can't wait to read your entire book!Koreen Olbrishhttp://learningintandem.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10313978.post-39526834576348491402012-01-18T19:05:27.966-08:002012-01-18T19:05:27.966-08:00David, Please post your link so we can check out y...David, Please post your link so we can check out your post, looking forward to reading it.

I have noticed that with life and death training, the fidelity is almost always 100%. In nuclear plants, they have exact replicas of the control room, in flight training, exact replicas of cockpits, in war games, they use guns and, in some cases, live fire.

When the training is serious, the environment and training is as close to the real event as you can get.Karl Kapphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10586071112339563727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10313978.post-1226366711723534012012-01-18T13:11:45.072-08:002012-01-18T13:11:45.072-08:00Karl thanks great post. I'm working on a post I call "High Wire Training" in which the consequences of the training are life&death not profit&performance.

Lots of High Wire Training is done using AR since it's the only way to learn without actually endangering anyone including yourself. Another good place to look for examples.David Grebowhttp://knowledgestarblog.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10313978.post-7108899100048029892012-01-18T11:32:08.887-08:002012-01-18T11:32:08.887-08:00Kelly, I agree, that is one impressive use of AR i...Kelly, I agree, that is one impressive use of AR in a learning setting.
