Tony,
I've posted my response to this question on my blog:
http://hamiltonnotes.blogspot.com/2008/01/big-question-for-january.html
Here’s my take on what we can expect in the coming year. Would love to get your views on the blog about what you are seeing as potential trends for the coming year. Read more here.
I've popped my comments in my blog post: Clark Quinn's Learnets: 2008 Predictions for Learning. All the best, -- Clark
Hi Tony.
I'm starting a brand new blog this year - Educational Technology Digest. I used to write Edtec Student's Daily but finally realized that me writing weekly or monthly did not really match the name. I hope to write much more regularly this year.
Anyway, I posted a few Learning Predictions for 2008 this evening.
Have a great 2008.
JWS

Well, I wouldn't call them predictions, but they're at: http://karynromeis.blogspot.com/2008/01/copping-out-of-lcbs-big-question-for.html
Well, I kind of stole one of your predictions for mine, Tony, and sure, I'm biased, but I have to agree. :)
Here's my post:
"Articulate Will Dominate" in 2008
Why predict for one year only when you you can look five years ahead, at least concerning the key issue: the social web? And why predict at all without highlighting the fact that predicting is a precarious exercise?
That's what I've done on my blog (dedicated mainly to intercultural issues):
InterCultural Musings
Hi, Tony
I like very much your 'big question' and decide to answer it and invite brazilian teachers to participate too.
My prediction is on my blog.

Hi! Translating my post in Portuguese at Yahoo! Busca Educação (an education portal by Yahoo! Brasil):
* There will be an invasion of nanoblogs in the classroom, with tools such as Twittter
* Posting photos from mobile cameras will be an even more daily reality and will be used as activity for the classroom
I see two important learning trends as we head into 2008. First, there is a growing need for financial literacy and business acumen training in corporations of all types and sizes. As companies wrestle with revenue and profitability issues in an uncertain – possibly even recessionary – economy, they are being faced with the need to implement new strategies to drive sales or reduce costs. New strategies mean change, and change can cause confusion and resistance from employees, especially if it is not well understood. Smart companies are making sure that managers and employees have a keen understanding of the “business of the business”, including the ways that the company uses and makes money, how marketplace and operational strategies can impact the bottom line and where each department and job fits into the big picture. Business acumen is more than financial literacy (Business Acumen White Paper) – it’s the understanding of how strategies, decisions and actions drive financial success.
The second trend will be for the best companies to pay much more attention to talent leadership (Talent Leadership White Paper) – not just as a human resources department issue, but as a “learning” issue for managers throughout the company. Baby boomer retirements, fewer young people entering the workforce and significantly more local, national and global competition for talent is driving the need to have managers – at all levels and in all positions – take accountability for being effective talent leaders. Assuming that they already are good talent leaders will be a mistake. Companies are going to have to notch up the skills and motivation of managers through learning interventions.

Hi Tony,
Here are my predictions for 2008.
Viplav Baxi - Predictions for 2008
Thanks,

My answer is in this week's Learning Solutions.
2008 will be the year that e-learning finally recognizes its own potential.
This will occur upon the realization that neither the technology involved (current or future) nor traditional academic pedagogy can or should drive the practice of learning.
The epiphany will come when we recognize what the user/learner wants and when he/she drives our actions and solutions.
